after I drew this, I realized it reminded me of that short we watched at CSSSA. The one where the man fell in love with, and had an affair with a squid. I KNOW you remember. So I'm calling this "mermaid" in homage to that amazing piece of film.

anyways--I don't really know what was going on here. I found a tutorial on how to make an old-timey divers helmet, and I sort of want to do it. And I thought I could just wear it with this nautical-y outfit I have, with high-waisted white sailor shorts. So I started to draw what that'd look like, and it eventually progressed into this.

I tried to push myself with colors and use darker values than I'm normally comfortable with, and strong colored lighting. I dunno if it was really a success, but at least I tried to try something new.

I don't really think I like this. But I don't know what I like anymore, either. I think I should do some more cross-hatching drawings, though.

Art that makes sense =/= fun.

I love the atmosphere in this. It feels very underwater-y and sunken, what with the lighting and soft blue. You always impress me with your art. It's always so stylish. C:
Random question, but how many markers do you usually use for each piece? =P

Well, I really like this. :)

I've always had a soft spot for underwater lighting, and I think you pulled it off rather well ^^

I really like her arm. I don't know why. The hand is really good. :D

OH GOD SO MANY! haha. I actually have my stack sitting next to me here, so I'll count them up for you.

The grand total: 33 different colors.
perhaps a few more--I might have put some back in my tub. Normally I use a little more than that, but this sentered so strictly around just a few colors that I didn't need quite as many.

HOLY CANOLI, this is gorgeous.

The detail is superb, and the concept is incredibly interesting.

Your attention to detail is really envious. And the fact that this is done in marker: ah-mazing.

Basically, this picture rocks infinitely.
